The Story of Marias Pass
Author: Flandrau, Grace, Illustrated by: Sepia Toned Illustrations and Map Publisher: Great Northern Railway
Buff paper wraps, titles and text in light brown, stapled. Photos, art reproductions and map in sepia. Not dated [circa 1925]. Another of Flandrau's delightful essays on the Western expansion of the Great Northern Railway, from Minneapolis to Astoria and Seattle, and the search for the illusive Marias Pass, eventually found by John F. Stevens. (Previous efforts were thwarted by misunderstandings about Blackfoot Indian hostilities, and the Blackfoot's own superstitions about evil spirits in the pass.) Previous owner's very small rubber-stamped name on covers, otherwise extremely clean and sound.
